SabiOso Selected for Web Usability Study on World’s Largest Website
Entire Federal Government Commercial Users of www.FirstGov.gov will benefit from SabiOso’s Web Usability Study
Clearfield, Utah, October 22, 2004—SabiOso, Inc. today announced that they have been selected to accomplish a top to bottom web usability study on the world’s largest website: www.FirstGov.gov. This effort will support the efficient use of FirstGov.gov by the millions of users of this site.
“FirstGov.gov is the official U.S. gateway to all government information and is the catalyst for a growing electronic government,” said Mike Mitchell, COO of SabiOso. “This website gateway transcends the traditional boundaries of government by connecting the world to all U.S. government information and services. Firstgov.gov’s powerful search engine and ever-growing collection of topical and customer-focused links connects users to millions of web pages–from the federal government, local and tribal governments and to foreign nations around the world. On FirstGov.gov, users can search millions of web pages from federal and state governments, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories. Most of these pages are not available on commercial websites. FirstGov has the most comprehensive search of government anywhere on the Internet.”
According to Mike Mitchell, COO of SabiOso, Inc., “Our job is to design a user-friendly, citizen-centric search function and related user interfaces for the FirstGov.gov Web site. This usability initiative will assist the FirstGov Web Management Team in analyzing, designing, evaluating and testing the FirstGov.gov search function to ensure that it is usable, useful, and accessible. The new search function we will create will be assessed for user performance, user satisfaction, and usefulness. In short, we will provide support in planning, analyzing, designing, implementing, evaluating and testing the FirstGov.gov search engine and its user interfaces. The scope of our responsibility includes user and task analysis, data collection and analysis, information architecture design, and iterative usability testing.”
SabiOso, Inc. was selected for this task on the heals of another significant web usability award by the GSA office of Citizen Services and Communications in which they were asked to analyze and evaluate the search function of www.gsa.gov, identify opportunities for improvement, and then build a citizen centric search capability that raises the bar for all federal websites.
