U.S. Forest Service Selects SabiOso to Lead a Nation-wide Improvements Study of Wildfire Management Financial Processes
SabiOso will develop the fastest and most detailed wildfire accounting system in the history of the Forest Service
Clearfield, Utah, May 7, 2003—SabiOso, Inc. today announced that they have been selected to accomplish a nation-wide incident obligation study and demonstration for the U.S. Forest Service.
“Congress is unlikely to give the Forest Service the money it needs up front to more efficiently fight wildfires on national forests this summer and fall. But a faster more—more detailed accounting of firefighting costs this season should help persuade lawmakers to provide more money in the future,” said Mark Rey, the Agriculture Undersecretary in charge of the Forest Service. “The Forest Service is taking steps to establish ‘real time’ reporting from the field so we can know with more precision what we’re spending.”
According to Mike Mitchell, COO of SabiOso, Inc., “Our job is to complete a nation-wide study of the present processes and work in conjunction with the Forest Service to create new processes and capabilities that give the Forest Service the tools to continue to protect our forests, natural resources, and commercial and private property constantly threatened by wildfires.”
SabiOso, Inc. was selected for this task in part due to their years of experience working with the Forest Service in the incident asset management arena and their national recognition as a leader in the studies and analysis environment.
